History
Jamie Lidell (born James Alexander Lidderdale, 18 September 1973, in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, England) is an English musician known for blending soul, funk and electronic music. He started out in the experimental electronic duo Super Collider before breaking through as a solo artist with 2005's Multiply on Warp Records, an album that reimagined him as a full-throated soul singer after years of glitch-heavy production work. The title track appeared on Grey's Anatomy, while "A Little Bit More" scored a US Target ad campaign. His 2008 follow-up, Jim, won Best Pop/Rock Album at the Independent Music Awards; 2010's Compass was produced by Beck and placed its title track in the video game Red Dead Redemption. Lidell built a reputation for one-man live shows, looping and beatboxing his own voice into full band arrangements in real time. He has recorded and toured with Gonzales, Feist and Mocky, released a self-titled album in 2013 and Building a Beginning in 2016, and now lives in Nashville, where he hosts a podcast about recording and the creative process.
