Style recipe for Suno v5
Hardvapour
Hardvapour from the 2010s: distorted kick, harsh synth, industrial hats, aggressive and menacing in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Hardvapour started in late 2015 as a tongue-in-cheek answer to vaporwave, trading its calm, muzak-sampling picture of a capitalist utopia for a sound drawn from gabber and punk. The first notable release was End of World Rave by the Canadian producer Wolfenstein OS X, out on 29 November 2015 through the Bandcamp label Dream Catalogue, and ten days later Sandtimer, an alias of Hong Kong Express, released Vaporwave Is Dead on the same label, with a spoken track announcing that from now on there would only be hardvapour. The music runs on thick synths, programmed drums and fast tempos, borrowing from acid house, big beat, gabber, speedcore, hard techno, hardstyle and drum and bass; some tracks take punk's three-chord structure, and DJ Alina's Immortal distorts its basslines the way Dead Kennedys did. The aesthetic is Eastern European, partly real and partly invented: about a quarter of the producers on the hardvapour. compilation came from Russia, Ukraine and Croatia, while others falsely claimed to be Ukrainian or Russian. The collective H.V.R.F. gave its home on Bandcamp as Pripyat, the town evacuated after Chernobyl. Many vaporwave listeners called it an over-worn in-joke, and discussing it is banned on the vaporwave subreddit.
