Style recipe for Suno v5
Hard Techno
Hard techno from the 2020s: distorted kick drum, reverse bass swell, rave stab chords, aggressive and menacing in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Hard techno is less one genre than a family of harsh techno styles sitting between techno, new beat and hardcore techno, including freetekno with its jungletek and raggatek offshoots, and schranz. The hard records came before the name: from around 1991 labels such as PCP and Industrial Strength were releasing tracks that were then filed as hardcore techno. As the hardcore scene softened, a very harsh techno came forward in the late 1990s on the back of the schranz movement, and that is what now goes by hard techno. It keeps the heavy distortion and pronounced drums of hardcore but stays nearer to classic techno through its steady rhythm and monotonous structure. The word schranz was coined in 1994 by DJ Chris Liebing and a friend who worked in a Frankfurt record shop, from the German schreien, to scream, and tanzen, to dance; Liebing's ten-inch series The Real Schranz in 1999 made it stick. In England the Spiral Tribe sound system hardened its acid-breakbeat sound, became a pioneer of hardtechno and in 1994 founded the Network 23 label, laying the ground for the free-party rave. LSDF, Troubles Fête and Heretik System are other names tied to the style.
