Style recipe for Suno v5
Ambient Pop
Ambient pop from the 2010s: dreamy synth, reverb vocals, soft drums, dreamy and nostalgic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Ambient pop took shape in the 1980s as an offshoot of dream pop: it keeps the structures of a pop song but wraps them in electronic textures borrowed from ambient music, the hypnotic, meditative genre that Brian Eno named in the mid-1970s and summed up on Ambient 1: Music for Airports (1978) as music that must be as ignorable as it is interesting. Krautrock melody runs underneath, and while sampling and other electronic tools are welcome, live instruments still carry most of the sound. The road in ran through David Bowie's Berlin trilogy with Eno, made under the spell of German kosmische bands; "Red Sails" from Lodger has been described as ambient pop over motorik beats. In 1980 the English art-rock band Japan cut "Taking Islands in Africa" for Gentlemen Take Polaroids with Ryuichi Sakamoto of Yellow Magic Orchestra: a talking-drum rhythm slowed below a heartbeat under minimal bass and layers of atmospheric keyboards. Critic Stewart Mason heard it as a forecast of where Japan and David Sylvian would go for the rest of their careers. In 1995 Slowdive released Pygmalion, a dream pop record steeped in ambient electronics that shaped many bands after it.
