History
Vize is a German electronic project from Berlin, founded in 2018 and often credited as one of the originators of slap house. The name comes from the first two letters of the first and last name of producer Vitali Zestovskih. The debut single, a cover of Glad You Came, grew into a club hit in the German-speaking countries before reaching the German charts in 2019. The formula was clear from the start: a familiar pop song rebuilt around a deep, bouncing bassline, a slowed vocal and a sparse beat, somewhere between house and radio pop. The same approach carried through the releases that followed. Stars followed, and in 2020 the project worked with a long list of German and international names, among them Felix Jaehn, Tom Gregory, Mark Forster and Alan Walker. White Lies with Tokio Hotel brought the sound to a rock band's audience. A listener recognises the project by its cover-based hooks, the rubbery side-chained bass and a polished, chart-ready finish.
