Inspiration, name-free
IOWA
Russian euro-pop from the 2010s: bright synth stabs, four-on-the-floor kick, plucky leads, euphoric and triumphant in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
Style: Russian pop
History
IOWA is a pop-rock band formed in 2009 in Mogilev, Belarus, where the musicians initially played alternative rock with hard-rock elements. The name is a nod to Slipknot's nu-metal album Iowa, an odd reference for a group whose sound turned out far softer. In 2010 the band relocated to Saint Petersburg, Russia, where the members still live and record their songs in Russian. Fronted by vocalist Ekaterina Ivanchikova (born 1987), alongside Leonid Tereshchenko, Vasily Bulanov and Alexander Gavrilov, IOWA's music blends pop-rock, indie-pop, synth-pop and electropop. Their breakthrough single, "Mama," arrived in 2012, followed by "Ulybaysya" ("Smile"), which topped the Russian iTunes chart in May 2014 and later featured as a soundtrack for the TV series Kitchen. Their debut album, Export, was released in November 2014. The band has won a Golden Gramophone award (2015) and Belarus's national "Lira" prize for Discovery of the Year (2012), and performed at a concert closing the 2014 Sochi Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix.
