64–88 BPMlo fi pop

2020s closet-recorded bedroom pop from the 2020s: reverb-soaked guitar arpeggio, clicky machine kick, sparse closed-hat ticks, melancholic and spacious in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History

d4vd built his first songs in a bedroom closet on a phone, recording into a free mobile app because he needed music for gaming videos that would not be flagged for copyright. That origin is audible in the finished records: thin, saturated guitar, a lot of reverb, and a voice that cracks and strains where a trained singer would smooth the line over. Romantic Homicide and Here With Me spread from short video clips into the streaming charts in 2022, and both work the same way, a quiet verse whispered close to the microphone against a chorus that lifts without any real increase in production weight. The writing sits between bedroom pop and slowcore, heavy on longing and on images of distance, and he sings about teenage attachment without irony, which is a large part of why it travelled. Later work has moved outward, taking in fuller arrangements and film and animation placements, but the core remains a young voice, a guitar loop and an unfixed take.
