History

Bayer Full plays disco polo at its most folk-rooted: bouncy keyboard rhythms, simple accordion-like melodies and sing-along choruses that owe as much to wedding bands and village dances as to Italo disco. The group was formed in Poland in 1984 and has always been led by singer Sławomir Świerzyński, whose voice and stage persona are the band's trademark. It is one of the oldest and most popular acts of the genre and rode the disco polo boom of the 1990s with songs such as "Blondyneczka", "Wszyscy Polacy", "Moja muzyka" and "Gdzie ta keja". The band collected gold and platinum records and has claimed very large sales figures, though those claims have been disputed. Around 2010 it recorded Chinese-language versions of its songs and announced huge success in China, a story later contested by the sinologist who had proposed the project. Bayer Full has also faced accusations that some songs borrowed from folk melodies. Since 1996 it has organised annual wedding-themed celebrations in Węgrów. What sets it apart is the cheerful simplicity of a village dance hall and Świerzyński's voice.
