Style recipe for Suno v5
Cumbia Peruana
Peruvian cumbia from the 1970s: surf guitar, farfisa organ, guiro, dreamy and playful in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Peruvian cumbia took shape in the 1960s from local versions of Colombian cumbia mixed with Andean huayno, rhythms of the coast, highlands and jungle, and rock and roll, surf and psychedelic rock. Its chicha strand, which by the mid-1980s was the most widespread urban music in Peru, started in the oil-boom cities of the Peruvian Amazon, where bands like Juaneco y Su Combo brought in the Farfisa organ, then moved to Lima, where it became the music of new, mostly indigenous migrants. Its markers are pentatonic Andean melody, up to three electric guitars playing lines at once (borrowed from huayno harp and guitar), upstroke rhythm guitar borrowed from the creole waltz, fuzz and wah-wah, organ or synth, timbales and congas, and no accordion. The movement is named after its first hit, "La Chichera" by Los Demonios del Mantaro, and chicha itself is a corn liquor favored by the Incas. Los Destellos, formed in Lima in 1966, brought electric guitars in. In the 1980s Chacalón, the Pharaoh of Cumbia, had "Soy provinciano", and Los Shapis broke through with "El Aguajal" in 1981. A revival began in 2007, and The Roots of Chicha compilations inspired American bands such as Money Chicha.
