Style recipe for Suno v5
Chiptune
Chiptune from the 1980s: square wave lead, triangle bass, noise percussion, playful and futuristic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Chiptune is music made with, or in imitation of, the sound chips inside old arcade machines, home computers and game consoles. Those chips offered a handful of simple waveforms (pulse, square, triangle, sawtooth) plus a noise channel: the Game Boy had two pulse channels, a 4-bit wave channel and noise, while the Commodore 64's SID chip gave three voices with ring modulation and filters. With so few voices, composers faked chords with fast arpeggios, and that rapid flutter became the style's signature. The music grew up in arcades. Space Invaders (1978) looped four descending bass notes that sped up as the aliens closed in, and Namco's Rally-X (1980) was the first game with a continuous melody. Yellow Magic Orchestra sampled arcade games on their 1978 debut, and in 1984 former member Haruomi Hosono released Video Game Music, built entirely from Namco game sounds and the first video game music album. FM synthesis then widened the palette, and Yuzo Koshiro kept writing on old PC-8801 hardware for the Streets of Rage soundtracks. Away from games, the demoscene kept chip music alive, and in the early 1990s Amiga crackers began attaching small tracker tunes to their cracked releases.
