Hi-Tension
Late-1970s brit funk latin percussion from the 1970s: timbale fills, conga cascades, punchy horn section, euphoric and anthemic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History
Hi-Tension played dance music with a London accent: tight funk guitar, busy bass, horn stabs and group vocals built for club floors rather than radio polish. The band came out of North West London, where it started in the early 1970s under the name Hot Waxx before a legal technicality forced the change to Hi-Tension in 1977. Signed to Island, they broke through in 1978 with the single "Hi Tension", which went to number 13 in the UK. The follow-up, "British Hustle", did even better and reached number 8 at the end of that year, and its title became a kind of slogan for the whole Brit-funk movement: black British musicians answering American funk on their own terms. The self-titled debut album also charted. Over the years the lineup passed through players who went on to other careers, among them Phil Fearon. The group faded in the 1980s but later re-formed and returned to the stage. Listeners know them by that driving hustle groove and the chanted, crowd-sized choruses.
