Style recipe for Suno v5
Zouk
Zouk groove from the 1980s: synth pads, drum machine, electric bass, seductive and euphoric in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Zouk takes its name from the French Creole word for a party, and in its first form it sounded like one. In the early 1980s the French Antillean band Kassav' pioneered a fast carnival music, 120 to 145 beats per minute, driven by percussion and a loud horn section. That original style, later called zouk béton, zouk chiré or zouk hard, was a synthesis of 20th-century French Antillean dance music, kadans, konpa and biguine among them, and its concerts were staged as theatrical shows with costumed performers. Musicians from Martinique and Guadeloupe then brought MIDI instruments into their compas and arrived at zouk-love, a slower, more atmospheric variant that gradually became hard to tell apart from compas. The strangest turn came in Brazil in the early 1990s. As the lambada fad faded, the dancers who stayed with it switched to Caribbean zouk records, and out of that came Brazilian zouk, a slow, sensual partner dance that later split into its own branches, from the traditional Rio style to the fast lambazouk and the improvisational neo-zouk. The music found its biggest European audience in France and a strong following in Quebec, while Cape Verde developed a zouk tradition of its own.
