Style recipe for Suno v5
Psybient
Psybient ambient from the 2000s: sitar drone, deep bass, acid pads, hypnotic and dreamy in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Psybient is the slow, drifting side of psychedelic trance, a blend of ambient, downtempo, psychedelic trance, dub and world music with traces of IDM. It has gone by many names: psychill and psychedelic chillout in the early ambient house days, ambient goa or ambient psytrance inside the trance scene, psydub and psystep for the dub-derived branch. The roots lead back to 1990s acts such as The Infinity Project and Astralasia, and to a habit of Goa trance producers like Astral Projection, who liked to close an album with one chill-out track. By the end of the decade that closing track had become a genre of its own, and Shpongle set its sound in 1998 with the debut album Are You Shpongled?. The music keeps the steady pulse of psytrance at a fraction of the speed and builds long soundscapes, a musical journey rather than a run of tracks for beatmatching, so the tempo is free to change mid-piece. Indian and Balkan melodies often slip in. Labels such as Ultimae and Interchill carried it forward, and its natural home became the chill-out rooms of clubs and big festivals.
