Style recipe for Suno v5
Narcocorrido
Narcocorrido from the 2000s: button accordion, bajo sexto, tuba bass, menacing and defiant in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Narcocorrido grew out of the corrido, the narrative ballad of the Mexico-US border, itself rooted in the 16th-century Spanish romance. Corridos told of revolutionary fighters from 1910 on, and the first ones about drug smugglers date to the 1930s. The music keeps a danceable base of polka, waltz or mazurka, while the lyrics name real dates and places and speak approvingly of the trafficking life, and critics compare it to gangsta rap. Los Tigres del Norte, together since 1968, were singing about the narco world by the 1970s, and their "El Jefe de Jefes" became one of its anthems. In the late 1980s Chalino Sánchez, a Mexican immigrant in Los Angeles, sold his own recordings, soon in bulk; he was murdered after a concert in Culiacán in 1992 and is remembered as El Rey del Corrido. Radio stations in Baja California agreed to a voluntary blackout and former president Vicente Fox proposed a ban, yet US border stations, the internet and bootlegs kept the songs moving. Between 2006 and 2008 more than a dozen prominent Mexican musicians were killed, many tied to the genre, Valentín Elizalde among them. The newer Movimiento alterado dropped the old euphemisms for explicit violence.
