Style recipe for Suno v5
Grebo
Grungy grebo rock from the 1990s: fuzz guitars, sampled loops, heavy bass, defiant and menacing in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Grebo was a short-lived scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s, centred on Stourbridge and Leicester in the English Midlands, just before Britpop and grunge. Pop Will Eat Itself gave the old biker slang its new meaning, and with the Wonder Stuff and Ned's Atomic Dustbin they fronted the movement. It worked more as a name for a scene than as a strict genre: indie rock pulled toward punk, electronics, folk and hip hop, heavier and cheekier than the twee or gloomy indie around it. Pop Will Eat Itself mixed metal riffs with electro-dance beats, samples and rap vocals, and their 1989 singles Wise Up! Sucker and Can U Dig It? both made the UK Top 40; for a while Stourbridge became a tourist stop for young indie fans. Ned's Atomic Dustbin leaned on catchy hooks and two bass guitars. The key records came between 1989 and 1993, from the Wonder Stuff's Hup to Ned's Atomic Dustbin's God Fodder, and the bands played Reading, sometimes as headliners, and sold millions of albums. Fans wore long hair, dreadlocks and baggy shorts, and around 1991 a younger, pop-punk-heavy wave nicknamed fraggle arrived, led by Senseless Things and Mega City Four.
