Style recipe for Suno v5
Swing Revival
Swing revival from the 1990s: punchy brass stabs, baritone saxophone, electric guitar comping, playful and swaggering in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
The swing revival brought big band music and the Lindy Hop back to dance floors in the 1990s. It rested on 1930s and 1940s swing, filtered through rockabilly, boogie-woogie, the jump blues of Louis Prima and Louis Jordan and the theatrics of Cab Calloway, and many of its bands had roots in punk and ska. The American scene traces back to 1989, when Royal Crown Revue and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy formed in Los Angeles and Cherry Poppin' Daddies in Eugene, Oregon. California clubs like The Derby gave free dance lessons, and the 1996 film Swingers, shot partly at The Derby, carried the sound into the mainstream. In April 1997 Squirrel Nut Zippers' “Hell” became the revival's first chart hit. The biggest came from the Brian Setzer Orchestra, founded in 1992 by the former Stray Cats frontman: their cover of Prima's 1956 “Jump, Jive an' Wail” from the 1998 album The Dirty Boogie reached number 23 on the Hot 100 and won a Grammy. That year Gap put Prima's original in a Khakis Swing ad, which some saw as the end of the movement, though Big Bad Voodoo Daddy still played the Super Bowl halftime show in January 1999.
