Style recipe for Suno v5
Suomisaundi
Finnish freeform psy from the 2000s: wonky detuned leads, rubbery bouncing bass, acid squelch line, playful and hypnotic in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Suomisaundi, Finnish for Finnish sound and also known as spugedelic trance, is a style of psychedelic trance that grew up in Finland in the mid-1990s. It started at parties the authorities did not sanction. In the early 1990s the collective Ruskababa introduced Goa trance to a handful of fans at covert summer gatherings, playing last season's Goa hits from DAT and even cassette, and the later collective Löyhä made a point of promoting locally made music. The breakthrough came in the 1995-96 season in Goa, when DAT recordings of short songs Tim Thick had made in FastTracker 2 became an overnight sensation among the underground DJs there. The self-published 1996 compilation Flippin Bixies, named after a private studio near Kurvi in Helsinki, is arguably the genre-defining album. The music keeps only trance's four-on-the-floor kick and otherwise ignores the rules: melodic and eclectic, with funky horn or guitar loops, retro video game sounds, speech samples in Finnish or English, jokes in the titles and bass that often overlaps the kick drum, which European and Israeli producers avoid. Outside Finland its biggest audiences are in Russia, Ukraine, Japan and Australia, and the Japanese label 6-Dimension Soundz releases almost nothing else.
