Style recipe for Suno v5
Epic Doom Metal
Epic doom metal from the 1980s: heavy doom riffs, soaring clean vocals, thick bass, theatrical and triumphant in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Epic doom metal takes its name from a single record: Epicus Doomicus Metallicus, the 1986 debut by the Swedish band Candlemass. Doom itself goes back to early Black Sabbath, whose blues-rooted music, Tony Iommi's deliberately doomy guitar and pessimistic lyrics set the template, and to Pentagram, who played heavy, dark music in the early 1970s before anyone called it doom. In the first half of the 1980s the sound hardened into a genre: Witchfinder General released Death Penalty in 1982, Saint Vitus put out their self-titled debut and Trouble released Psalm 9 in 1984, and Cirith Ungol's King of the Dead, from the same year, is regarded by many as an early influence. Candlemass joined Pentagram, Saint Vitus and Trouble in what came to be called the Big Four of Doom Metal. The music is slow and downtuned, with guitar and bass locked on the same riff into a bass-heavy wall, minor keys and plenty of dissonance, especially the tritone. Where traditional doom singers imitate the high wails of Ozzy Osbourne or Bobby Liebling, epic doom vocalists go a step further and sing in an operatic style. The lyrical gloom goes back to Robert Johnson and Son House.
