Style recipe for Suno v5
Bassline
Bassline house from the 2000s: wobble bass, organ stab, skippy hats, swaggering and aggressive in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.
History
Bassline grew out of Niche, a Sheffield club opened in 1992 in an abandoned warehouse. From around 1997 its DJs stripped the vocals out of speed garage and house and pumped up the bass, and by the early 2000s the result was a genre of its own. Tracks run a four-to-the-floor beat at 135 to 142 BPM under heavy, often interweaving basslines: the warping synth bass known as a reese, Korg M1-style organ leads and sped-up female R&B vocals. As London moved on to 2-step and grime, northern and Midlands DJs had to press their own records, and the sound spread to Leeds, Bradford, Manchester and Birmingham. In November 2005 some 300 officers raided Niche in Operation Repatriation and closed it without charging the owners, and owner Steve Baxendale said the scandal only made the music more popular. T2's Heartbroken, sung by Jodie Aysha, reached number 2 in the UK, and in December 2007 a reworked Jawbroken warmed up the crowd for Ricky Hatton's fight with Floyd Mayweather. Bassline won the charts partly because it appealed to women as much as men, unlike grime and dubstep; Dizzee Rascal is counted among its notable names.
