History
Zveri ("Beasts") is a Russian rock band formed in Moscow in 2000 by singer-songwriter Roman Bilyk, known by his stage name Roma Zver. Producer Alexander Voitinsky, who had previously worked with t.A.T.u. producer Ivan Shapovalov, recruited the rest of the lineup through newspaper and internet ads. The band's sound blends pop-rock, alternative rock, power pop, and pop-punk. Their 2003 debut album "Golod" (Hunger) produced radio hits like "Dozhdi-pistolety" and "Koltsevaya," but it was the 2004 follow-up "Rayony-kvartaly" that made them stars, with singles "Vsyo, chto kasaetsya" and "Napitki pokrepche" in heavy rotation on MTV Russia and Muz-TV. Zveri won Muz-TV's Best Rock Group award nine times and took a Best Russian Act prize at the 2004 MTV Europe Music Awards. One offbeat fact: their song "Kvartira" made it onto the in-game radio soundtrack of Grand Theft Auto IV. In 2018 Bilyk and guitarist German Osipov served as music producers for Kirill Serebrennikov's Cannes-awarded film "Leto," in which Bilyk also played the musician Mike Naumenko.
