History
«Плот» outlived nearly everything that played beside it. Yuri Loza (born 1954) wrote the song in the early 1980s and recorded it himself on domestic equipment, one voice and an acoustic guitar with the arrangement grown around them later. By 1988 it was everywhere, and it remains one of the most covered Russian songs of its period. Before that he had played in touring bands, Bari Alibasov's Integral among them, and his own material always sat between bard song and estrada: verse-driven form, plain singing, melodies you pick up by ear on first hearing, lyrics that stay conversational and step around the poetic register the official stage preferred. «Путешествие в рок-н-ролл» and «Я умею мечтать» belong to the same home-recorded period. He went on recording through the 1990s and later, though nothing afterwards travelled that far.
