History
Xentrix are an English thrash metal band from Preston, Lancashire, formed in 1984 under the name Sweet Vengeance before switching to Xentrix in 1988. The classic lineup, vocalist/guitarist Chris Astley, lead guitarist Kristian Havard, bassist Paul MacKenzie and drummer Dennis Gasser, earned a five-star review from Kerrang! magazine, which led directly to a deal with Roadrunner Records. Between 1989 and 1996 the band released four albums: Shattered Existence, For Whose Advantage?, Kin and Scourge, touring alongside Slayer, Sepultura, Testament and Sabbat. Xentrix are often named, with Acid Reign, Onslaught and Sabbat, as one of the "Big Four" of English thrash metal. A quirky footnote: their 1990 single covering Ray Parker Jr.'s "Ghostbusters" theme was pulled and reissued after its original sleeve used an unauthorised, rude version of the Ghostbusters logo. The band split in 1997, briefly reunited in 2005-06, then reformed for good in 2013, releasing Bury the Pain (2019) and Seven Words (2022), both of which charted on the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart.
