History
Wooli, a producer from Rochester, New York, is best known for helping define briddim, a heavy blend of brostep and riddim that leans on huge snares and kicks, and for pairing that weight with open, melodic sections. His early releases drew attention from bass music outlets as a rising name in the late 2010s, and the Mammoth EP of 2018 captured both sides of his style: two-step riddim patterns and grinding basses on one hand, soaring melodic dubstep on the other. In 2019 he made the Evolution EP with Excision, a sign of how quickly he had moved into the scene's upper tier. Collaborations with Seven Lions, including Island with Trivecta and Another Me with Excision, showed his comfort with emotional, trance-influenced writing. His work has come out on labels such as Never Say Die, Circus, Monstercat and Ophelia. The sound is easy to recognise: enormous, punchy drums, thick layered basses and melodies that open up the space before the next heavy drop.
