1970s celtic-inflected blue-eyed soul from the 1970s: swinging tenor sax, strummed acoustic rhythm, walking upright bass, warm and euphoric in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History

Van Morrison sings as if the words matter less than the sound of them being repeated. He came out of Belfast and the R&B circuit, fronting Them before going solo, and kept that shouting blues singer inside a body of work that moved steadily toward jazz phrasing, soul horns and Celtic mysticism. Astral Weeks is the extreme case: acoustic guitar, upright bass, vibraphone and flute, recorded with jazz players who had not heard the songs, with Morrison circling a single line until it breaks open. Moondance pulled the same voice into tighter arrangements built on swing and brass and produced the standards, the title track and Into the Mystic among them. Brown Eyed Girl, earlier and lighter, has followed him around ever since. What a listener recognises is the phrasing rather than any hook: a line sung five times with a different weight each time, consonants chewed, the band holding a groove while the vocal wanders off the beat and comes back.
