History
Before the solo career there was «Браво», where Валерий Сюткин sang lead through the first half of the 1990s and left «Дорога в облака» and «Вася» behind him. He put together his own band in the middle of the decade, and the material stayed in the same world: rock and roll of the late fifties and early sixties, swing phrasing, horns, a clean guitar tone with reverb and no distortion. «Я то, что надо», «7000 над землёй» and «Далеко от Москвы» are the songs tied to his name, and the persona did half the work: the suit, the narrow tie, the oiled quiff, American retro read through a Soviet stilyaga rather than copied. He sings in an easy light baritone, close to crooning, and the arrangements keep the band audible instead of burying it.
