History

Tosya Chaikina (born Antonina Badulina on May 28, 1996, in Saint Petersburg) is a Russian singer-songwriter and composer working in indie-pop, known for a breathy, near-whispered vocal delivery despite formal classical training — she has posted herself singing an excerpt of Ave Maria online. Raised in a family of musicians (her mother taught academic vocal; several relatives were conductors), she briefly studied at the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College before leaving to build her own sound. At 16 she co-founded the electronic project More Oblakov ("Sea of Clouds") with Andrey Martynov and Semyon Gurevich; after it split, she recorded solo material under the aliases Tosyachai, Berry Trail and Inner Tones before releasing music under her own name starting in 2018. Her breakout came with the self-recorded, no-studio 2019 album "Сделано в айфон" ("Made on an iPhone"), and her 2022–23 track "В сердце бахнули стрелы," featuring rapper Markul, became a lasting radio hit. She has sung backing vocals on Oxxxymiron's album "Красота и уродство" and, in 2025, won a Muz-TV award with rock band Три дня дождя for their cover of "Земля."
