History

Tosya Chaikina (born Antonina Chaikina, May 28, 1996, Saint Petersburg, Russia) is a Russian pop singer-songwriter and composer. Raised in a family of classical musicians — her mother and grandmother taught academic vocal, her father and grandfather were conductors — she skipped the conservatory path and started building her own sound as a teenager, listening across genres. She first fronted the project Море облаков (Sea of Clouds) with Andrey Martynov and ran solo outings as Berry Trail and Tosyachai before releasing music under her own name in 2018 with the EP "Цветы" (Flowers). With no studio budget in 2019, she bought an iPhone on credit and recorded her album "Сделано в айфон" (Made on an iPhone) entirely on it, an early entry in Russia's DIY bedroom-pop scene. She wrote "Беспринципные" as the theme song for the TV series of the same name, and her 2022 track "В сердце бахнули стрелы," especially after a version featuring rapper Markul and producer Shumno, became a lasting chart hit. That year Forbes Russia named her, at 25, to its "30 Under 30" music list.
