The Strokes
Early-2000s New York garage rock from the 2000s: twin Telecaster interlock, trebly overdriven lead, pick-played P-bass, swaggering and raw in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History
The Strokes arrived from New York in 2001 with a sound assembled from parts that were all out of fashion at once: two guitars playing interlocking lines instead of chords, a bass locked tight to a drummer who never overplayed, and a vocal pushed through distortion until it sounded like it was coming from a small speaker in another room. Is This It ran barely half an hour and wasted nothing. The songs were short, the tempos brisk, the arrangements fixed in advance so that a live performance matched the record almost exactly. Its success reopened commercial space for guitar bands on both sides of the Atlantic, and for a few years any lean group in leather jackets was measured against it. Room on Fire kept the formula. Later albums brought in synthesisers, longer forms and more room for each member, and The New Abnormal won a Grammy in 2021. What identifies them instantly is the guitar interplay, one part high and repeating, the other answering underneath, with a deliberately filtered voice on top.
