History
Syd (born Sydney Loren Bennett, April 23, 1992, Los Angeles) is an American singer, songwriter, DJ, and producer working in alternative R&B, neo soul, and hip hop. She first gained attention in the early 2010s as a member of the Odd Future collective, where she was the group's only woman and its only openly gay member, recording many of the crew's early tracks in her own bedroom studio. In 2011 she co-founded the band The Internet with Matt Martians, releasing the debut album "Purple Naked Ladies" the same year, followed by "Feel Good," "Ego Death," and "Hive Mind." As a solo artist she released the album "Fin" (2017) on Columbia Records, the EP "Always Never Home" (2017), and "Broken Hearts Club" (2022). A genuine trivia highlight: she received a writing credit on Beyoncé's "Plastic Off the Sofa" from the 2022 album "Renaissance," and has also featured on tracks by Zayn and Lil Uzi Vert.
