History

Svdden Death is known for riddim and tearout dubstep at its most aggressive: dense, metallic bass design, abrupt switch-ups and drops engineered to hit as hard as possible. From San Jose, California, and later based in Los Angeles, the producer played in metal, indie and jazz bands before turning to bass music, naming early dubstep producers such as Benga and Skream among his influences. The single Prismatic and the Junkworld EP helped establish the project around 2017 and 2018. The same period brought VOYD, a darker and heavier strand of his work, first presented on Voyd Vol. I in 2018 and continued with Voyd Vol. II, eventually running its own label, Voyd Music. In 2019 he reached a wider audience with Sell Out, a collaboration with Marshmello. Releases on labels including Never Say Die, Buygore and Bassrush, plus collaborations with Subtronics, Borgore, Snails, Slander and Sullivan King, placed him at the centre of the American heavy bass circuit. His debut album Harbinger followed in 2024. The sound is recognisable by its crushing low end and technical precision.
