History
Ssshhhiiittt! is a Russian rock band formed in 2015 by Nikita Kislov, who grew up in Rostov Veliky (Yaroslavl region) and started posting songs on VKontakte under earlier names, including "shit shit shit!" before restyling it as "ssshhhiiittt!" to make the band easier to find in search engines. The group's raw, lo-fi sound draws on alternative rock, indie rock, post-punk, psychedelic rock, garage rock and surf-rock influences, sung entirely in Russian with blunt, confessional lyrics. Kislov cites the band Valentin Strykalo as a key influence on his singing and songwriting. The lineup, aside from Kislov on vocals and guitar, has included guitarist Aleksey Loparevich, drummer Aleksandr Kamod and bassist Artyom Yashukov, with several earlier members rotating through over the years. The band built a following through VKontakte by 2017 and later relocated to Moscow. Its breakout song, "Tantsy" ("Dancing"), from the 2019 EP "Poslednee leto. Chast 2," became a genuine hit, racking up tens of millions of Spotify streams and landing on Spotify's list of the top five tracks shared on Instagram in 2020. The 2020 album "Tretia zhizn" reached number 17 on the Apple Music albums chart in Russia.
