Sonya Marmeladova is one of the numerous stage identities used by Russian rapper Vyacheslav Mashnov (born May 9, 1990, in Khabarovsk; based in Saint Petersburg since 2013), better known under his main name Slava KPSS and his battle-rap alias Gnoyny. He named this persona after the self-sacrificing heroine of Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment and reserved it specifically for grime-style tracks and freestyle battles, performing as Sonya Marmeladova at events such as the 140 BPM Battle and Versus BPM. Under this name he recorded diss tracks aimed at rappers Rickey F and Sobolev, plus a 2017 clash with Bumble Beezy. The persona is one entry in an unusually large roster of aliases the same artist has used over his career - Genius' fan-curated pseudonym list runs into the dozens. Mashnov, performing as Gnoyny, is separately known for one of the most-viewed Russian rap battles ever, a 2017 clash with Oxxxymiron.
