History
Sleepy Hallow made Brooklyn drill sound almost tender. Where the scene's early records leaned on menace, his songs lay half-sung, sleepy melodies over sliding 808s and drill hi-hats, often with a heartbroken or reflective lyric at the centre. Born in Jamaica, he moved to Flatbush, Brooklyn as a child, and in 2019 co-founded Winners Circle Entertainment, the crew he shares with Sheff G; the imprint partnered with RCA in 2020. Early attention came with "Flow" alongside Sheff G, and the breakthrough was "Deep End Freestyle" with Fousheé in 2020, a platinum record that showed how far drill could bend toward R&B. His debut album Still Sleep? followed in June 2021, and "2055" became his biggest single, reaching the Billboard Hot 100. Boy Meets World arrived in September 2023. Producer Great John is a frequent partner in the sound. He is recognised by the drowsy, melodic delivery, the emo-rap sadness sitting inside a drill groove, and hooks that feel closer to a love song than a street anthem.
