History

Sleeping with Sirens are known first for Kellin Quinn's voice: an unusually high, light tenor that sits on top of chugging post-hardcore guitars, breakdowns and screamed parts, and gives even the heaviest songs a pop-leaning sweetness. The band formed in Orlando, Florida, around the end of the 2000s and became one of the biggest names of the post-hardcore wave of the 2010s, drawing a young audience through relentless touring and a strong online following. Let's Cheers to This in 2011 was the breakthrough, and If You Can't Hang turned into a scene anthem. Quinn's guest spot on Pierce the Veil's King for a Day raised his profile further. Feel in 2013 kept the balance between heavy and melodic, while later records moved in different directions, at times toward polished pop rock and at other times back toward heavier material, as on Complete Collapse in 2022. Acoustic releases also showed how much the songs rest on melody. Through every change the constants have been big sing-along choruses and lyrics about love, loyalty and getting through hard times.
