History

Slaughter to Prevail are known above all for the voice of Alex Terrible, whose extremely low gutturals became one of the most discussed sounds in modern deathcore. The band formed in Yekaterinburg in 2014, later relocated to Orlando, Florida, and signed with Sumerian Records. Their music is brutal deathcore at its most physical: slow, crushing breakdowns, down-tuned guitars, sudden tempo drops and a sense of weight rather than speed. The debut album Misery Sermon arrived in 2017, and the band's profile grew sharply with the 2020 single 'Demolisher', whose growls set off a flood of reaction videos on YouTube. Kostolom followed in 2021, its title a Russian word for a bone breaker, with the single 'Baba Yaga', named after the folklore witch. Grizzly continued the line in 2025. On stage Alex Terrible performs in a mask, which became part of the band's identity. What sets them apart is that bottomless voice, the groove-heavy breakdowns and a blunt, folklore-tinged Russian flavour.
