Samantha Fox (born Samantha Karen Fox, 15 April 1966, Wood Green, North London) is an English pop singer who first became famous as a glamour model, appearing on Page 3 of The Sun from 1983. Spotted by Jive Records, which was looking for "a British Madonna," she released her debut single "Touch Me (I Want Your Body)" in March 1986. The song reached number 3 in the UK and number 4 in the US, and topped the charts in seventeen countries, including Canada, South Africa and Australia — a striking run for a debut single. Her sound was frothy, sexually charged dance-pop, showcased on the albums Touch Me (1986), Samantha Fox (1987) and I Wanna Have Some Fun (1988). Further hits followed, including "Do Ya Do Ya (Wanna Please Me)," "Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now" (a UK top 10 single) and "Naughty Girls (Need Love Too)," a US top 3 hit. In 1988 she was nominated for a Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist. She has sold over 30 million records worldwide.
