History
Sage the Gemini is best known for "Gas Pedal", a stripped-down Bay Area party track built on little more than a squelching synth line, hand claps and a chant-along hook, with a verse from Iamsu!. Raised in Fairfield, California, he started recording as a kid and first drew attention online with a MySpace single before joining HBK Gang, the Bay Area collective around Iamsu!. In 2013 "Gas Pedal" and "Red Nose" both crossed into the Billboard Hot 100, turning a regional sound rooted in hyphy and ratchet music into national club radio. He produces much of his own material, and that economy is the signature: minimal beats, heavy low end and hooks designed for dancing rather than lyrical depth. His debut album Remember Me followed on Republic Records in 2014, and his guest spot on Flo Rida's "GDFR" took him further into the pop mainstream.
