History
Rødhåd plays and produces a deep, hypnotic strain of dark techno: long, rolling tracks built on dubby low end, murky atmospheres and a steady pulse that rewards patience more than peak-time drama. He was born and grew up in East Berlin, and his reputation formed in the city's club circuit, where he became closely associated with Berghain. In 2009 he co-founded Dystopian, a party series that grew into a record label and gave a home to a moody, spacious take on Berlin techno. His own label activity continued with WSNWG. As a producer he took his time with the album format: Anxious arrived in 2017, followed by Mood in 2020 and Ringwelt in 2023. He also worked in partnership, with Vril on Out of Place Artefacts in 2020 and with JakoJako on the modular-leaning In Vere in 2022. He is known equally for his DJing, where long, patient blends and a heavy, enveloping sound are the point. Listeners recognise him by the fog: reverb-soaked chords, sub-bass that seems to breathe and grooves that stay firm without becoming harsh.
