History
Reflex is a Russian dance-pop group formed in Moscow in 1999 by singer Irina Nelson and producer/composer Vyacheslav Tyurin, who conceived the project after Nelson returned from a stint abroad performing under the stage name Diana. The band's debut single, "Dalniy Svet" ("Distant Light"), premiered on Europa Plus radio on December 16, 1999. Reflex became one of the defining acts of 2000s Russian pop, scoring national radio hits such as "Soyti s Uma" (2001), "Ne Zabudu," "Tantsy," and "Non Stop." The lineup rotated constantly around Nelson as the group's face, with past members including Olga Kosheleva, Denis Davidovsky, Grigory Rozov (DJ Silver), Alyona Torganova, and Zhenya Malakhova; Nelson stepped away in 2007, returned in 2012, and has fronted the act as its sole member since 2016. A trivia note: the band's name reportedly came from spotting the word "reflex" on a sign while brainstorming, chosen for its Latin root meaning "reflection." Its 2008 album "BLONDES126" stood out for blending pop with live guitars and house/progressive house production.
