History

Randy Rogers Band plays Texas country the way it sounds in a crowded dancehall: fiddle weaving around the vocal, steady shuffle rhythms and songs about heartbreak and the road sung in Rogers' high, slightly weathered tenor. The group came together in San Marcos, Texas, around the turn of the 2000s and learned its trade at Cheatham Street Warehouse, the small club that has launched a long line of Texas songwriters and where the band cut an early live album. Rollercoaster in 2004, produced by Radney Foster, sharpened the songwriting and made the band one of the more prominent names of the Texas and Red Dirt scene. Just a Matter of Time in 2006, again with Foster, came out through a Nashville major label, and the self-titled record in 2008 continued that run. Unlike many acts who moved to Nashville, the band kept its base and its audience in Texas. Rogers later recorded duet albums with fellow Texan Wade Bowen. Listeners know the band by the prominent fiddle, the road-worn tenor and a live show that has long been its main calling card.
