History
Olivia Rodrigo (born February 20, 2003, in Murrieta, California) is an American singer-songwriter whose sound sits in the confessional pop-rock lane popularized by artists like Alanis Morissette and Taylor Swift, pairing diary-style lyrics with distorted guitars and sharp pop hooks. She started as a child actress, starring in Disney Channel's Bizaardvark and Disney+'s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series before signing to Geffen Records in 2020. Her January 2021 debut single "Drivers License" broke Spotify streaming records and debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, launching her debut album Sour (2021), which topped charts worldwide and became the longest-reigning number-one album by a female artist that year. Her follow-ups, Guts (2023) and You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love (2026), produced further chart-topping singles ("Vampire", "Drop Dead"), making her the first artist whose lead single from each of their first three albums debuted at number one. She has won three Grammy Awards and was named Time's Entertainer of the Year in 2021.
