History
Neon Trees is an American rock band formed by childhood friends Tyler Glenn (vocals, keyboards) and Chris Allen (guitar), who grew up together in Murrieta, California before relocating to Provo, Utah, where the group took shape in the mid-2000s. Bassist Branden Campbell and drummer Elaine Bradley soon joined, rounding out the lineup. The band's sound blends pop rock, new wave, synth-pop and electropop. After opening tour dates for The Killers in 2008, they signed to Mercury/Island Def Jam and released their debut album Habits in 2010, led by the breakout single "Animal." Their 2011 song "Everybody Talks," from the album Picture Show, became a bigger commercial hit, landing in a Buick Verano ad and a Glee cover. A notable trivia point: NPR profiled Neon Trees as "the Mormon band who made it big," and frontman Tyler Glenn later became known for speaking openly about leaving the LDS Church after coming out as gay in 2014.
