History
Muni Long is the stage name of Priscilla Renea Hamilton, an American singer-songwriter born September 14, 1988, in Gifford, Florida. She first signed to Capitol Records as a teenager and released the album Jukebox in 2009 under her birth name, then spent the following decade as an in-demand songwriter for other artists, co-writing hits including Rihanna's "California King Bed," Fifth Harmony's "Worth It," Ariana Grande's "Imagine," and Pitbull's global smash "Timber." She adopted the Muni Long persona in 2019 and broke through as a performer with the 2021 R&B single "Hrs and Hrs," a slow-burning hit that reached the Billboard Hot 100 top 20 and won Best R&B Performance at the 2023 Grammy Awards. Her sound blends contemporary R&B with vintage soul phrasing and sharp, conversational lyricism. The single led her album Public Displays of Affection: The Album (2022) and set up further success with "Made for Me" (2023) and the album Revenge (2024), which earned a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album. Notably, she has also picked up Grammy nods for Best New Artist and, as a songwriter, Album of the Year for her work on H.E.R.'s Back of My Mind.
