History
Mount Kimbie are an English electronic and indie rock group formed in 2008 in London by Kai Campos and Dominic Maker, who met while studying at South Bank University. Recording from a home studio in Peckham, the pair helped define the "post-dubstep" sound with early EPs Maybes and Sketch on Glass, followed by their acclaimed 2010 debut album Crooks & Lovers. They signed to Warp Records in 2012 and released Cold Spring Fault Less Youth (2013) and Love What Survives (2017), the latter earning Pitchfork's "Best New Music" tag. Drummer Marc Pell and keyboardist Andrea Balency-Béarn, live members since 2016, became full band members in 2023 ahead of the fourth album, The Sunset Violent (2024). Mount Kimbie have long collaborated with James Blake and King Krule, among others. In 2016 Chance the Rapper sampled their track "Adriatic" on his Coloring Book cut "Juke Jam" featuring Justin Bieber; in 2021 Dom Maker earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for co-producing James Blake's "Before."
