History

Mokhito is a Russian pop duo formed in 2012 in Engels, Saratov region. The original lineup, singer Alexandra Streltsova and multi-instrumentalist Alexander Nekhvorostny, broke through in 2015 with the debut album "Slyozy Solntsa" (Tears of the Sun), which produced hits like "Ulybatsya s toboy" and "Razbezhatsya" and brought the group national touring and TV rotation across Russia and the CIS. Streltsova also auditioned for the Russian version of The Voice in 2015, impressing judge Alexander Gradsky, though she did not reach the final. After a slump, producers fully relaunched the act in autumn 2018 with a new duo, Alexandra Erofeeva from Kemerovo and Pavel Laptev, discovered through performance clips they had posted on social media; the search had originally been for a solo female singer, but the team unexpectedly paired her with Laptev instead. The refreshed Mokhito released the single "Prosti, malaya" and later hits including "Ruki proch" and "Ne dam v obidu," and began work on a second album, Refresh, announced in 2019. Nekhvorostny, meanwhile, moved behind the scenes as a songwriter for artists such as Dima Bilan and Grigory Leps.
