History

Manny Montes is a Puerto Rican rapper and singer from Aguadilla who became one of the busiest organisers of Christian urban music, known as much for large multi-artist projects as for his own records. He grew up in the Tamarindo neighbourhood and began writing songs young, appearing on other artists' albums from 2000 before releasing his first solo record, Realidades, in 2002. In 2003 he launched United Kingdom, a compilation that gathered many Christian rappers and reggaeton artists, and followed it with a live edition and later with Los Inmortales in 2006, a project with more than thirty guests including Redimi2. These sagas, together with Los Violentos, made him a hub of the scene, and he has produced more than ten records for other artists, including Funky, Redimi2 and Alex Zurdo. His album El Escenario, from 2010, won the Arpa Award for best urban album. His sound is hard-hitting reggaeton and rap with a strong, declarative delivery and a stage-built, crowd-facing energy.
