2010s warbled bedroom jangle pop from the 2010s: chorus-warbled clean guitar, pitch-drifting lead line, Juno-106 pad, warm and playful in feel. A name-free Suno recipe that reproduces the signature sound without tripping the artist-name filter.

History

Mac DeMarco records guitar pop that sounds slightly out of tune and is entirely deliberate about it. The signature is a heavy chorus effect on a clean electric, tape that wobbles just enough to smear the pitch, drums recorded small and dry, and a voice half-mumbled as though the song were being worked out rather than performed. He came up through the Canadian underground before settling into a long run of records made largely alone, and his loose, comic stage presence set the tone for a whole strand of bedroom indie that followed. "My Kind of Woman" and "Ode to Viceroy" are the guitar side of it, warm and lopsided. "Chamber of Reflection" is the outlier that became the best known song: a synth pattern lifted into something melancholy and circular, with the vocal sitting low and resigned. Later albums thinned the arrangements further toward keyboards and drum machines, but the tuning still drifts and the mood still refuses to resolve.
