History
Lil Tecca, born Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe on August 26, 2002, in Queens, New York, to Jamaican immigrant parents, is an American rapper, singer, and producer who grew up in the Springfield Gardens neighborhood. He started rapping around age nine, trading freestyles with friends over Xbox, and cites Chief Keef as a key influence on his melodic, Auto-Tuned flow. He broke out in 2019 with the single "Ransom," which reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and led the Streaming Songs chart for seven straight weeks; notably, he was only the third artist ever to top Streaming Songs with his very first charting song, following Lil Nas X and the Jonas Brothers. "Ransom" fueled his debut mixtape We Love You Tecca (2019), a Billboard 200 top-five project. He has since released five studio albums, including Virgo World (2020), We Love You Tecca 2 (2021), Tec (2023), Plan A (2024), and Dopamine (2025), each debuting in the chart's top ten.
