History
Lil Peep, born Gustav Elijah Åhr (November 1, 1996 – November 15, 2017), was an American rapper and singer who grew up on Long Island, New York. He began posting music on SoundCloud in 2013 as "Trap Goose" before adopting the name Lil Peep, a childhood nickname from his mother. After moving to Los Angeles at 17 and later joining the hip-hop collective GothBoiClique, he built a following through mixtapes including Crybaby and Hellboy (2016), blending trap, punk, and dream-pop influences with confessional lyrics about depression and heartbreak. Critics, including the New York Times, called him "the Kurt Cobain of lo-fi rap" for the way he fused rock and hip-hop. His only studio album, Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 1, was announced in June 2017. He died of an accidental fentanyl and Xanax overdose at 21, shortly before a planned second volume. He is widely credited as one of the artists who pioneered and popularized the emo rap subgenre. Detailed information about his unreleased later work remains limited online.
