History
Kromestar is the main alias of Rajpal Singh Kalsi, a South London producer who has moved between dubstep and grime with a clean, concise production style. His tracks range from mechanical, heavy dubstep to smoother, sample-based grime, and he has also recorded under other names, including Iron Soul and Dark Knight. His debut album My Sound appeared in 2009 and established him in the deep dubstep scene, followed the same year by The Other Syde. Colourful Vibrations came in 2011, and Tears of Joy in 2013 was released as a charity record shaped by personal loss. He runs his own imprints, Bass 'N' Love and Dub Steppers Recordings, and has released on other labels including Mala's Deep Medi Musik. Later work such as MCMLXXXII Part One and The End To Something shows him active long after the first dubstep wave. Listeners recognise his sound by sparse, carefully placed elements, heavy sub-bass and a melodic warmth that often sets him apart from darker peers in the same scene.
